slaiju 2: reborn

Unity – Puzzle Game – Level Designer

game description

Slaiju 2 Reborn is a grid-based puzzle game with a destructive twist. Originally born from a game jam prototype, it evolved into a full game over the course of four months, developed by a team of 10. It’s one of my first published games, a mix of arcade nostalgia and modern strategy.

You don’t control the kaiju,  you control the map.

Your mission is to guide a giant monster (the Slaiju) from its starting point to a final destination by laying out a clear, destructive path. The catch? You must route it in a way that destroys all key city blocks in the process. Each level is a spatial challenge with multiple solutions, if you’re clever enough to find them.

The game also features a Level Editor, allowing you to become the master of your own puzzles and challenge your friends to play them!

level design analysis

A level-design philosophy built on an expanding set of moves, with the goal of finishing each stage in as few moves as possible, and breaking the current record.

The puzzles are designed to offer more than one solution at times, but not every solution will be enough to beat the record.

After the player reaches a certain cognitive load, the sequence introduces brief “breather” puzzles to dial back the difficulty. These moments let players enjoy quick wins, boosting their sense of reward and motivating them to continue.

From sketch to engine

I turn a rough idea into a playable level through a clear, iterative process: from paper sketches to gray-boxing, from play-testing to the final implementation in engine.
Every step is guided by rhythm, readability, and fun, until the experience is ready to be placed in the player’s hands.
